Project

Buranda Busway

Glass balustrade along the O’Keefe Street footpath.

The Package

Our glass, their steel

The balustrade on O’Keefe Street is a shared package. AJC Metal Products fabricated and installed the steel: galvanised angle stanchions, base plates, and a 50mm 316 stainless handrail on welded cradles. Surefit supplied and installed the glass panels that clamp between those stanchions along the full footpath run.

Every panel was measured to AJC’s approved set-out, not to nominal sizes. Panels sitting at handrail cradles have cut-outs in the glass. Panels either side of the expansion joints are gapped so the handrail can move without loading the glass. The hob height changes from 110mm to 200mm along the street, so the glass heights change with it.
