The options
Not sure which option suits the design? Send us your drawings or specifications and we’ll help determine the right fabrication approach, the details required and what it will cost.
| Commercial Fabrication | Architectural Fabrication | Custom Fabrication | |
|---|---|---|---|
| What it is | Fabricated aluminium components made to suit commercial glazing and building systems | Purpose-made aluminium elements where appearance, detailing and integration matter | One-off aluminium components fabricated to suit specific drawings or site requirements |
| Best for | Shopfronts, offices, retail tenancies, commercial fitouts and building upgrades | Facades, feature glazing, architectural details and high-finish commercial projects | Non-standard openings, replacement components, unusual details and bespoke project requirements |
| Materials | Commercial-grade aluminium profiles, sheets, angles and sections | Selected aluminium profiles and sections to suit the architectural design | Aluminium profiles, sheet and components selected around the required application |
| Finish | Powdercoated or anodised to suit the glazing system or project specification | Powdercoat, anodised and selected architectural finishes | Finished to match existing aluminium where possible or to suit the project specification |
| Fabrication | Cutting, drilling, machining, assembly and preparation for installation | Precision fabrication with close attention to junctions, alignment and visible finishes | Made to drawings, measurements or site conditions with fabrication tailored to the detail |
| Applications | Frames, shopfront components, doors, glazing channels, flashings and trims | Feature frames, facade components, screens, surrounds and custom glazing details | Brackets, trims, channels, frames, panels and specialised aluminium components |
| Programme | Straightforward fabrication can be turned around quickly once dimensions are confirmed | Allow additional time for detailed design, finishes and coordination | Lead time depends on complexity, material availability and the amount of custom work required |
Delivered
Standard aluminium conducts heat directly through the frame, which can make it the weak point in a glazing system. Thermally broken framing uses an insulating strip between the internal and external aluminium sections to significantly reduce that heat transfer.
Frame
Thermally broken aluminium
Insulation
Polyamide or similar thermal barrier
Glass
Typically low-E or double glazing
Compliance
Specified U-value from Section J or NatHERS
Approach
Frame and glass priced as one complete system
Thermally broken aluminium framing

Why Surefit for fabrication
Aluminium fabrication often sits between the drawings and the finished installation. When dimensions, finishes or details do not line up, delays follow. We fabricate in-house so the component that arrives on site is made for the job, not adapted to it.
We cut, machine, assemble and prepare aluminium in-house, giving us greater control over dimensions, quality and programme.
We work from architectural and shop drawings to fabricate components to the dimensions and details specified for the project.
Non-standard frames, trims, flashings, brackets and one-off components can be fabricated to solve the details standard systems cannot.
Powdercoat and anodised finishes are confirmed alongside the fabrication requirements, helping everything arrive ready to fit and match the project.

Questions builders ask us
The framing, yes. Every aluminium frame we install is cut, machined and assembled at Coopers Plains. Glass is procured to spec from Australian processors and glazed either in the factory or on site depending on the system. Automatic door operators and specialist hardware are bought in and fitted by us.
An aluminium frame with an insulating strip separating the outside face from the inside face, so heat does not conduct straight through the metal. It is specified when the Section J or NatHERS report needs a frame U-value that standard aluminium cannot reach, and is usually paired with low-E or double glazed units.
New windows and doors for builders on new builds and apartments only, fabricated in our factory. We do not supply homeowners and we do not do repairs or replacements.
We fabricate from commercial aluminium systems with published AS 2047 test data, so the performance of every window and door we make is documented, not assumed.
We can price it. Most builders take supply and install so there is one party responsible for the fit, and that is the way we prefer to work. If your project has a reason for supply only, tell us and we will be straight about whether it suits.
